If you've ever wanted to know why John left the music business for five years after Rock 'n' Roll in 1975, look no further than "Watching the Wheels," a justification for his time spent as a houseband. He talks about how people didn't understand it then and probably still won't, saying that he couldn't ride on the merry-go-round any longer, tired of people giving him useless advice "designed to enlighten me" and nagging him at every turn. He had to break out, and now he's just sitting here watching the wheels go 'round and 'round; and he couldn't have been happier.
